Hungry as a Horse

This is how we found Lileigh the other day, making a fashion statement.  The ponies made it here a mere few hours before the brunt of the storm.  We had five straight days of snow, with over a foot of it sticking around.  Lost power for two days, which makes a beautiful snow storm turn into a problem.  We spent one night "camping" in the house (not as romantic as it sounds...it was basically like sleeping 6 inches away from a smoky campfire and letting both dogs in the bed in order to steal their body heat) and then a night at my sister's powered West Seattle house.  I was out in the barn when I heard Pasquale squeal in laughter and come bounding over the snow, turning on the barn's water pump to prove we had gained power back.  Little moments of happiness!  Considering that at the moment I was lining up 3 different buckets under gutter spouts to collect water to give to the horses, seeing him turn on the water pump was a huge relief!  Power is a strange concept.  We don't need it to survive, yet our whole society is dependent on it.  Driving through the various towns and cities that were dark and shut-down due to the power outages was a little freaky.  Even McDonalds shut down!

Our tickets for SNOW PATROL arrived!  SO excited to see my favorite band in May!  Pasquale got us tickets for my Christmas present, and I am eagerly counting down the days!  Their new album, Fallen Empires, is amazing.  Here is a video from my current fav song:

I am very grateful that the ponies made it safely, and it is a huge dream come true to have them in my backyard.  It is a surreal feeling to look around me and see all the little things that add up to a life that I have always wished for; my own home tucked into beautiful mountains, with a cute barn filled with my darling ponies, shared with my true love and two silly dogs.  I have amazing, fun, and sweet friends.  My family is loyal and loving.  I truly could not want for more and I am so deeply grateful.  And on that note, I guess I should start that pesky homework...
